Antalya – You & Me Scrapbook Layout

Antalya Scrapbook Layout

Finally getting some work done on photos of my trip-before-last :P. This one is from our trip to Turkey, specifically the part where we had a family reunion in the Antalya region, at a resort called the Kremlin Palace. It’s cute cause our family is mostly from Russia.. I really enjoyed having a view of a building that reminded me of mother country. I want to make another page with a bigger picture of the resort and a cute one of us. So really this is part of a two pager.

I started off with a sheet of Damask paper from Teresa Collins’ He said She said collection. I applied gesso, then used the packaging technique to apply various pink and yellow paints and then splatters of the same and some blue. I also added some gold liquid watercolour for a glimmery effect. It was so pretty I almost didn’t want to put photos on the paper ;P. I even took an instagram photo of the background:

Shame I had to put those pesky photos down! I put a whole bunch of layers under the photos (which I grouped into a cluster that kinda looks like one big photo) but I tried to keep them as tight as possible to help the background peak through.

Hello there! I used papers from a Craft Smith paper pad (Blackberry Lemon) as well as from the stationary branding that I hoarded from the hotel. The Life is good is cut from a life card cut apart sheet in the pad, and used the corners of the card as layers. I also added some pink thread, pink quatrefoil washi tape and gold Heidi Swapp stars as layers.

I coloured the ampersand of a wood veneer (Michaels) pink, and also used shimmery gold watercolour paint over the whole thing…. you can’t tell as it didn’t change the colour but its really sparkly IRL. I tried my best to capture it from an angle that could show the shimmer but no… sun was going down.. no sparkles :(..

Here’s some more of that hotel stationary as well as more star stickers and a Pink Paislee Atlas geotag. I also cut another piece of ephemera from that collection to use as a layer- the luggage one which was all the right colours.

I finally got a chance to make some embellishments that I’ve been wanting to try for a while. I made that pink and yellow tassel with embroidery thread and some gold wire from the dollar store. I made the gold heart paperclip from a basic gold paperclip and a pair of needlenose pliers. They both took me about 15 minutes total to make! For the title, I wanted to keep it kinda subtle and I’ve been seeing people doing this thing where they take a bunch of the same word in different colours and different sizes and layer them on top of each other so I tried that. Not sure how legible it is, but I got the effect I was going for! I used my Silhouette to cut the name of the region- Antalya, in pale pink and yellow pattern paper, and white textured cardstock.

xoxo
