Bellydance Scrapbook Title Layout

I can finally share the project that I’ve been working on in secret! My other hobby is bellydance, which I do with my BFF Jennica. For her birthday, I wanted to surprise her with a bellydance photo album from all of our shows together.

Originally, I had planned to do a mini album. But as I was printing the photos, it quickly got out of hand and became a whole scrapbook album. I decided to keep it slightly mini anyways and do it 8.5×11.

For the main title intro page, I wanted to keep it simple and striking, so I chose a black and gold theme, and a photo of us in a red costume so that it would stand out.

I used the same sequins, gems and coins that we’d use to make our costume. I love how the two hobbies can overlap a tiny bit! I layered the photo over gold tissue paper and crinkled gold foil. For the BELLYDANCE part of the title, I used silver glittered foam alphas from American Crafts, and layered gold glitter glue over top to make it fit the gold theme. I also applied gold glitter and shimmer mist under all the shiny bits.

It was a bit scary to stamp and emboss such a big design element right onto my background paper. You can see where I messed up a bit and pressed to hard, and there is a bit of extra gold in the centre, but it’s not a huge deal. It’s still an ampersand, it’s still shiny and gold.

Lastly, for the name part of the title, I cut it out from plain cardstock with my Silhouette, and gold embossed it twice using a versamarker and gold embossing powder. I wanted them to pop off the page a bit so I used hot glue and left the glue strings as a design element.

I have quite a few more pages that I have been working on in secret, so there will be a lot more posts coming!
