Father’s Day Cards

Father’s Day

Look at that, me actually posting before the holiday! I don’t think any of the dad’s read my crafting blog anyways! I made three cards, one for my dad (obviously), one for the DIL, and one on commission for a friend.

I designed this little triangle cut file just for this card. I didn’t want to make anything too girly, and triangles are far from girly. I also noticed that some of the connecting triangle lines spell out the word DAD. So I cut them out of textured cardstock and used black liquid watercolor to pick out the letters.
I made a little sentiment tag to go on the card as well. I cut it out of beige cardstock and added some washi tape across the bottom. I printed the words (font: Orniste) on vellum and sewed that on to the tag. Last, I made a couple of little banners to hang behind the tag. I really liked the one on the bottom in the card above, but I only had one (1!!!!) from the Now and Then Happenings pack by MME. I really liked the shiny silver stripes so I tried to make some of my own, using MME paper and silver embossing powder. It turned out quite well if I do say so myself!
Of course all the cards have to be unique in some way, so I used different papers for each banner cluster. Plus, I ran out of thin blue washi tape before the last card (shhh! totally intentional!).
A gold brad and paperclip, plus a wooden heart from Michael’s complete the look, keeping it sweet but still manly.
The longest part of making these cards was taking off the leftover little triangles from the cutting mat after peeling the design off. But I hope that doesn’t deter you from enjoying this free cut file, which fits a 4.25×5.5 card:
