Picture Purrfect Scrapbook Layout

Getting some mixed media up in here! I was working with a sketch from the As You See It challenge blog archives. I like how the layout is pretty simple which lets all of the media details shine through.

First I painted some gold paint in stripes all over the background paper (Crate Paper Flea Market) focusing on the right side of the paper. Then I added some black and pink splatters, using the packaging technique to spread some of the shimmery pink around.  I added some gold and black and white polka dot washi tape strips. Lastly, I sewed a piece of vellum on top of it so it has a nice muted effect with the mixed media just peeking out. I trimmed the string close instead of tying it off in the back for a messy undone look. Of course I added some masking tape to the back so it doesn’t get too undone!

I wanted some teal in here but not too much teal so I took a piece of the teal woodgrain paper from the Flea Market paper pack and covered it in a mixture of white paint and mod podge for a shiny textured look, then stitched the edges. I put some peach acrylic paint under the part where I wanted to stamp to make the stamping stand out over the patterned background.

Lastly, I made this heart polaroid frame with my Silhouette, some chipboard and embossing powders. I just love the texture of it! You can make your own with this cut file:
