Silhouette 3d Flower Tutorial

Flower Tutorial

I had a lot of fun making these little flowers! I had a shadow box that I needed to fill and I love making little flowers. I experimented with a couple of styles, and this one was my favorite. I created this cut file based on a hand cut flower tutorial and I improved the design, adding tabs for easy gluing and making the middle bit one piece.

I also made a couple of medallions for the top of my shadow box. I really wanted a monogram in gold, but I still can’t seem to design one that both Dylan and I like.

For the flowers, they are really easy to make, but to make it even easier, I put together this tutorial with gifs. Because not knowing how to put together a flower cut file is the worst.

You will need:
-Silhouette cutting machine and mat, etc.
-paper 6×6 or 6×12 or 12×12 (cameo)
-hot glue gun
-skewer

Step 1:
Cut all the flowers from pattern paper or cardstock. The cut file is a 6×6, but can easily be duplicated for extra flowers.
6×6=2 flowers
6×12=4 flowers
12×12=8 flowers

step 2:
Roll back the petals on a skewer for bits 1-5, the ones with tabs.

Step 3:
Put a dab of hot glue on the tab and align the petals to form a funnel shape, repeat for all tabbed bits.

Step 4:
Starting with the biggest (5) apply glue to the inner rim and attach it to the circle (7). Repeat for 4-3-2-1.

Step 5:
Tightly roll the untabbed petal (6) and then slightly let go to let it loosen a bit. Apply hot glue to the bottom then press in the middle of the flower.

And that’s all you have to do! I told you it was easy!

Here is my finished shadow box on the wall. I didn’t glue them down, I just placed them and let gravity do it’s thing.

The medallions are super easy as well, just cut a 1-1.5 inch slice of 12×12 paper and use a scoreboard to score every 1/4 inch, then fold accordion style. Use hot glue to make it into a circle and sandwich it between two small scalloped circles. I also added a decorative thumb tack from the dollar store in the middle of each.

Here is the free cut file for the flowers! Show me what you make with this <3
