This is Adorable SID DT Scrapbook Layout

Isn’t it though? I absolutely adore how this turned out! The Stick It Down sketch for this month is:

august 2016

I was looking for techniques to try on my scrapbook Pinterest board, and I came across a recent Paige Evans layout that I just had to scraplift, and it went with the sketch perfectly. Her’s was a robin’s egg blue cardstock background with the word Wanderlust as the title. I didn’t want to copy it, just lift it, so I decided to use a different word. I picked Adorable because it’s a good length and I had some adorable Qi pictures that I wanted to scrap.

So I went into Silhouette Studio, and drew a couple of wavy lines. Then I wrote out the word Adorable in Ariel and resized it to fit across the page. I then went into the point editor and made each letter fit between the wavy lines. I didn’t fussy about keeping any lines straight, I wanted a handcut look.

I arranged scraps of paper on my cutting mat and fit all the letters exactly where I wanted them. I also noticed that I had a lot of negative space around my letters, so not to waste any pretty paper, I added a bunch of hearts around each letter. I also figured that hearts might go a little better with this layout than flowers, so I made all the hearts different sizes. I used Crate Paper’s Flea Market papers, as well as a couple of Close to My Heart papers.

For the background, I took a piece of Flea Market wood patterned paper, and applied some gesso under where I wanted the letters to go. I then applied a rainbow of watercolours using the packaging and splatter technique. I glued the letters down and then stitched through them all.

I placed my photos about where I wanted them, and then started to embellish. I used puffy hearts, stars and this adorable kitty (all from the dollar store). I also used some rub-on paws and fish bones and the phrase “I love cats” (also from the dollar store).

I cut word phrases from the Flea Martket cut apart sheet. The Adorbs arrow went up on some foam for dimension.

Some more words from the same cut apart, with the I love Cats rub-on went in the lower right corner.

I also used a vellum piece from Maggie Holme’s Open Book vellum pack.

I finished the title with this glitter arrow sticker with from Heidi Swapp. I also added “& cute” but I apparently didn’t take a close up of it. I used a teal foam AC thicker ampersand and a word sticker from MME’s Necessities in Wood. So really the title is This Is Adorable & Cute.

I think this is one of the fastest layouts that I’ve put together, and I absolutely love how it turned out.

So pop on over to the Stick It Down blog and give this sketch a try.
